why is it when i walk into tjmaxx… i automatically find the bag that is some brand i’ve never heard of but is STILL 265.00 AT TJMAXX?!?!
i don’t want a coach bag.
or any bag with lots of letters on it.
(blech)
i want the one that is different. and amazing. and full of ruffles or chunky hardware or covered in over-sized, giant hounds-tooth print.
that pretty much goes for anything in life.
i don’t want “normal”. i don’t want what is “cool”. i’ve always had sort of an off-the-wall love for clothes and bags and shoes and giant costume jewelry and “sunnies” (yeah, i stole if from Rachel Zoe).
i’m addicted. (my husband will vouch.)
…on a side note… if anyone wants to buy me this $148.00 clutch from anthro i would probably give my undying affection to you…
or this $588.00 satchel I am MAJORLY coveting I might have your child. (DISCLAIMER- I will not have another child. this baby machine is closed for business. t’was a joke.)
There was a point to this post besides showing you beautiful goodies from anthropologie… As a wedding photographer, I was trained under the all-black, all-the-time rule.

There are good points to it. You can be a photo ninja. (figuratively and literally.) If you spill something on yourself or lay down in the mud, clients and wedding-goers alike can’t tell you look a mess. I match my camera. (yes… i’m stretching for it now.) Frankly… its easy?!? HOWEVER… as much as I actually DO wear black in my non-wedding-photog-ninja life… I also wear a lot of colors. Lately its been lots of navy and mustard and olive greens. (Who am I kidding… that’s what it always is.) So, this is a warning.
2012 clients… not only will you get the more creative, not stuck inside of the box Valerie shooting your wedding… you’ll probably never get a full wedding ninja… unless you want one. I can arrange it probably… there are a LOT of martial arts academies around here. That’s right I said it… I’m going to wear color. LOOK OUT WORLD. Things are about to get crazy. I don’t dress boring and blend in normally… and I want my business to be ME. I am tied 100% into this business… I’m entirely too personal… I’m super laid-back and casual with my clients… and soon you’ll start seeing photos that reflect more of what I love… so why not put all these beautiful clothes in my closet to use… not to mention the mass amounts of amazing jewelry. AND the shoes… we can’t forget about the shoes.
Long story short… I’m going to start dressing more like Valerie… and less like a ninja.
p.s. i live for over-exaggerating things. that’s something you should probably also get used to.
And now for the song… here is a lovely little ditty… I am going to see this band TOMORROW! SO EXCITED! If I could only pick one kind of music to listen to… it would be old-timey, rootsy, americana, rootin’-tootin’ amazingness. I’m a sucker for anything with a bass, a harmonica, and a banjo. Give me all three and I die.
